Magazine subscription… Is this legal?
I decided not to renew a certain magazine subscription, they sent me several reminders that my sub was about to end, and now they have sent me a bill that says “due and payable”
It says “We recently wrote you to remind you that your subscription would be extended under our Continuous Renewal Service unless we heard otherwise from you”
I did NOT agree to continuous renewal, and they keep sending me the magazine and are demanding payment. Can they legally do this? Do I “have” to pay for what I did not order or request?
In the small print of the original subscription there was probably some clause about the subscription being self-renewing unless you took an active role in canceling it. It’s a common tactic. I would just write “CANCEL” in big red letters on the bill and send it back. It’s worked for me before.
