skincare – reversing sundamage and scarring all over, spf?
ok. I’ve always tanned, I’m young (early 20s) I have good skin, but its showing some damage, mainly in the form of being tan. I have let a lot of the tan come off now in the last few months. I’ve decided to keep my tan up with mystic tans instead of sun damage. I have $ for med spa treatments innecessary..my questions are
1. how to be rid of the redness on my face from recently healed acne (its not bad, just one here, one there)
2. how to be ride of the speckly tan on my top lip, across my face, shoulders – it doesn’t seem to be coming off at the same rate as the rest of my body
3. what spf must I use to keep this damage from coming back when I’m outside?
I was thinking a photofacial for the redness and scarring, and hydroquinone (oh god here comes the assault)
If you’re one of the people who is going to remind me hydroquinone will give me cancer, what do you recommend in its stead?
I would say photofacial, microderm abrasion and chemical peels. Maybe not all of that at once though!! A friend of mine works for MedSurge (they company that owns the MedSpa franchise) and I do workshops for her now and then (sort of as a test subject for them to teach doctors how to use the machines and products). I am working on getting rid of the same things, and they recommended (and remember, I am getting these treatments for free so they have no reason to get me to do more than necessary) photofacial, microderm and chemical peels. I am waiting to do the photofacial though because if you do get sun after it, the sun spots will resurface. My understanding is that it takes a couple treatments to get the best results, but I can already see a difference after one microderm and peel.
As for sunscreen, at least 15 spf, but 30 or 45 is best.
