How do you know when dry yeast for baking goes bad?

ive had this jar of active dry yeast for awhile, and its still a year and a half before its expiration date. I’ve made breads from it before, but the last two attempts at making bread, its been flat. I’ve kept it stored in the refridgerator after the first time ive opened it. how do i tell if its still has….oomph?

Try Putting some in some warm water with about a teaspoon of sugar. It should start to activate and bubble. When you are baking with yeast, you have to make sure that your water isn’t too hot or too cold. Hot will kill the yeast, and cold won’t activate it.
