MGT:Please Review my Squirrel Deck?
Need help with Magic the Gathering
What card should i put in or take out to improve my squirrel deck?
This is a casual deck, not competitive.
4 Essence Warden
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Squirrel Mob
4 Chatter of the Squirrel
4 Earthcraft
4 Squirrel Nest
4Steely Resolve
1 Enlightened Tutor
4Idyllic Tutor
4Sterling Grove
8 Forest
3Swarmyard
3Plains
3Sungrass Prairie
3Terramorphic Expanse
2Door of Destinies
3Deranged Hermit
Cards that I have on the side that I am thinking about putting in:
Blasting Station 3
Epic Struggle 2
Privileged Position 2
Holistic Wisdom 1
Naturalize 4
Aura Shards2
Coat of Arms 2
I know about the infinite loop with squirrel nest and earthcraft but I don’t use it because other players don’t like it. I don’t tap the squirrels tokens with summoning sickness and double my squirrel tokens with the untapped creatures i have instead of producing infinite tokens.
Please help me out with any helpful suggestions.
YAY! Squirrels! Silly deck FTW!
You NEED more land. 20 is way too small, considering that you have the Hermit and other huge casting cost spells. I know you have Elves, but even with the elves, you need about 3 more land. Just keep that in mind.
Have you considered remaking the deck to include Reoccurring Nightmare? You have squirrils galore to sacrifice, and when you target Deranged Hermit, things get nasty quickly. I suggest you also include Survival of the Fittest in your deck, which allows you to tutor up creatures and get your creatures into your graveyard, ripe for reanimation. (Exhume and Animate Dead would add a great deal to your deck too.) Anger should be in your deck, just so that it can sit in your graveyard and give every squirrel haste. Squee, Goblin Nanob can serve as repeated discard fodder if you need it.
Have you heard about Rhys the Redeemed and Doubling Season yet >> Doubling season doubles all tokens you put into play, and Rhys does the same thing for a cost. Use Rhys when Doubling season is in play, and you’ll need a mathematician to figure out how many tokens are there.
I love Privilaged position. Have 2x in play, and everything you own essentially gain shroud. It’s great, though it is a little hard to cast, so I’d skip over it. At this rate, you are strapped for mana already, you don’t need any of the bigger spells to stop you on your way to victory.
Did you know that Nakamura, one of the most respected pros in the scene today, once won a tournament with Deranged Hermit? We’ve called the hermit Nakamura from that day on. Just thought a little trivia might come in handy.
Hope that Helped!

Prairie Directory of North America (Paperback) $110.16 The first single, comprehensive source for locating North American public prairies, grasslands, and savannas, Prairie Directory of North America is a guide unlike any other. First published in 2001, the book uniquely catalogs the continent`s most well-known prairie sites by country and state for easy reference. With the addition of over three hundred newly located, preserved, or restored sites, the second edition is the prairie enthusiast`s ideal guide to locating countless North American sites-from the well-documented to the remote. Readers can use the guide to plan both convenient visits to close-to-home prairies and journeys to sites well across the continent. Also included is an expanded state-by-state index, ideal for locating specific prairies in any given state. The victim of destructive plowing and construction at the hands of European settlers, North American grassland ecosystems that once spanned the entire continent have suffered degradation and fragmentation. With the Prairie Directory as a guide, however, ecologists, environmental scientists, and tourists can experience the essence of this ancient ecosystem and, in some locations, even its vastness. The book lists tiny, hidden half-acre prairies spared by the plow as well as popular sites covering millions of acres. It documents prairies hidden deep in forests or in plain sight in American Indian reservations. The only one of its kind, this book will allow readers to experience the prairie as a colorful, fragrant, wildlife-rich North American landscape. |
