I don’t know about “ex-gay” groups and frankly I don’t know any ex-gays, although I know some bi-sexual people who are currently in heterosexual relationships. These people are not afraid of gays, so I would say the answer to your first sweeping question is no.
With regards to alcoholics anonymous, one of the deepest tenets of the AA program is that an alcoholic can stay sober by helping another alcoholic. If members were afraid of drunks this foundational doctrine would be unsupportable. If anything, the program of AA is drunkophilic. So the answer to your second sweeping question is also no.
