why is bush saying he is going to veto renewing the clean water act?
he doesnt like clean water either? maybe becasue it’s not oil.
Other House-passed measures that Bush has said he would veto include:
_A renewal of the Clean Water Act that would require state and local governments getting federal grants for water treatment plants to pay “prevailing” local wages often tied to pay scales for unionized building trades workers. Because Bush wants to keep the record as the worst environmental president in US History.
Actually it’s because the more lax environmental laws (including the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts) are, the easier it is for businesses to make money because they can basically pollute all they want. Once they have to reduce their pollution, that costs money and cuts into their profit margin. Bush is all about big business and doesn’t care about the environment, so this is an easy decision for him. All the big companies who contributed to his campaigns are getting a little kickback by way of weakening environmental laws such as this one.
Basically it’s all about greed and the almighty dollar at the expense of the environment.
